Established in December 1995 to coordinate PEI's collective response to family violence.

The Premier's Action Committee on Family Violence Prevention was established in December 1995. The Committee brings together government, community agencies, and survivors to coordinate collective efforts in family violence prevention, public education, and policy change on Prince Edward Island.

Family Violence Statement

Family violence is a pattern of behaviour used by one person to gain power and control over another person in an intimate relationship. It can take many forms, including physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, financial, and spiritual abuse, and can happen to anyone regardless of age, gender, race, religion, culture, education, or economic status.
